The show opened with a recap of the ending of Victory Road 12 (find my review of this Pay Per View here). We saw an emotional looking Dixie Carter enter the arena before making her way to the ring. Once there she told how Bobby Roode has disrespected everybody from her to the fans. She went on to say that after Victory Road she only has one option left. The crowd chanted “Fire Bobby!” before Stings music hit.
Sting entered the ring and said that firing Bobby doesn’t give anybody revenge. The crowd reacted with “We want revenge”. The atmosphere changed as Sting said that being General Manager (GM) of Impact Wrestling was no longer working for him. The crowd chanted “Please don’t go”. Sting explained that he cannot be a part time GM and a part time wrestler as chants of “You’ve still got it” erupt from the audience. He said that the doctor told him that he needs to go home and rest but wants to come back after he has recuperated from the concussion which he sustained at the hands of Roode during the Victory Road Pay Per View and be “100% nothing else but a wrestler”.
