The second Open Fight Night (OFN) opened with a recap of the stories which we have seen recently including AJ’s secret and the extra dirt which was dished on his inappropriate relationship with Dixie Carter, Joseph Park’s mission to find Abyss and Bully Ray’s threat to the lawyer.
The show opened with Ref, Earl Hebner knocking on a door to collect the World Heavyweight Championship title belt from Bobby Roode so that it could be hung up in the air ready for tonight’s main event. Still annoyed at Hulk Hogan for allowing RVD to pick the stipulation for his title shot, Roode rambled on at Earl and asked why Hogan himself didn’t go to collect his belt for the match which he didn’t want. He handed the belt over to Hebner and told him to go hang it up before stating that he’ll have it back real soon.
The ‘go home’ show before we see Sacrifice on May 16th 2012 opened with a recap of Rob Van Dam and Bobby Roode picking each other’s opponents last week. We saw highlights from both of their matches including Roode hitting Hardy with his belt during the Hardy vs. RVD match.
The show opened with the story of Eric Bischoff and how he was defeated and therefore made to leave Impact Wrestling. We saw clips from his farewell party and his induction in to the ‘Shed of Shame.’ You can see more details of this here.
Ric Flair told us he feels that Hulk Hogan thinks that he is his pawn and has him under his thumb. He’s “Ric G O D Flair” so he doesn’t buy it. He’s smarter than Hogan thinks. In our world he says that he’s “just plain God”.
Here, in the first Impact Wrestling episode after Lockdown we saw a recap of the Pay per View which included images and video clips from the Main Event between Bobby Roode and James Storm followed by a brief clip of Storm from after the match where he said that he just wants to be with his family.
Roode was the first person on the roster to make an entrance in to the Impact Zone and he had no security with him. That’s not the only thing he didn’t have either; he’s done a Kaz and had his trademark long hair chopped off. Sporting a plaster on his forehead, Roode hobbled down the ramp and in to the ring, selling his injuries.
JB, Jeremy Borash, kicked off the show as usual today by telling us what is coming up, as you would expect this show will be heavily focused on Lockdown. We also have Eric Bischoff on commentary it would seem as he made his way down the ramp to his music. Borash said that he was hoping to host the show without him this week. His hopes may be realised if Team Eric fails to secure a win at Lockdown. Who will co-host then? Still maintaining that the crowd love him, Eric blew his ‘fans’ a kiss. It turns out that JB is actually pleased to have Eric there as he has a few things to ask him.
First we were shown a recap of the events which we have seen unfold over the past few weeks on Impact Wrestling. Highlights were Bobby Roode dragging Dixie Carter over the barrier and into the ring, Hulk Hogan affirming a match between Ken Anderson and Roode in which we saw Roode hit Anderson over the head with a beer bottle just as he did with James Storm and most recently the Bischoff team’s proposal.
The show began with Eric Bischoff walking down the ramp as the commentators discussed the rules of the aforementioned Lethal Lockdown match. We were reminded that the ODB and Eric Young wedding which we were all invited to will take place tonight. Bischoff has some business to sort out and said that his name will live on. Everybody in TNA seems to have ‘business’ to attend to these days. Bischoff went on the say that he has a team of the most “devastating talent”, before welcoming his chosen wrestlers into the arena.
Today on commentary we have Jeremy Borash and Eric Bischoff. Borash kicked off the show by talking a little about the upcoming Pay per View, Lockdown; and then went on to tell us what is coming up in the show, including highlights from Eric Young’s stag party. Bischoff didn’t seem too keen on seeing this.
We were then brought straight in to the first match of the hour long show.
